Description of Work:Ayuda is very proud to have been selected for the historical design and restoration of the NASA Apollo Mission Control Room, The ‘Cathedral’ to the U.S. Space race has been dormant for 23 years. The NASA Apollo Mission Control Room is being restored to commemorate the first moon landing’s half-century anniversary. This work is being completed in two phases with the historical design underway.

Description of Work:Ayuda was contracted by PFP to provide Owners Representation and Management Services during Site investigations, demolition activities, soil and groundwater characterization, soil remediation, excavation and removal, and cleanup activities at the Former Butterball Processing Facility in compliance with the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment (CDPHE) Voluntary Cleanup Program (VCUP). Demolition activities included asbestos abatement, building demolition, removal of asphalt and concrete driveways and parking lots; removal of various hazardous wastes; and the removal of underground utilities. Demolition activities exposed contaminated soil (coal based fill) encountered at various locations throughout the property. Upon completion of the demolition activities, a site investigation delineated the extent of soil contamination and determined groundwater was not affected. During remedial action activities, Ayuda collected confirmation samples, removed, transported, and disposed of contaminated soils, and backfilled excavated areas with clean soil. Ayuda prepared a VCUP Application, which was approved by CDPHE in December 2015. After all completion of project activities, Ayuda submitted for a No Action Determination (NAD) and Tax Credit for the Site, which was approved by the CDPHE in August 2016. The Site was prepared for a mixed-use (Commercial/Residential).

Description of Work:Ayuda played a fundamental role in the Denver urban development project, named Sloans, by acting as the on-site owner’s representative for providing construction Management. This $300 million project was to redevelop the St. Anthony Hospital Central Campus, and the 19-acre, seven-block site, which featured scenic mountain views and Sloan’s Lake. Ayuda was contracted by the client to provide on-site owner’s representation. Ayuda oversaw the demolition activities, installation of both wet and dry utilities as well as new gutters, sidewalks, and streets, which will tie into existing adjacent streets. These foundational improvements will provide building pads for the client to offer various builders. The Site will become a mixed-use residential (condos, townhomes, and apartments) and commercial center. The buildings that remain will be converted into amenities to sever the neighborhood.

Description of Work: Ayuda was originally contracted to perform an indoor air quality assessment (IAQ) for the Garfield County Annex Building. Through this contract, Ayuda was additionally asked to present the findings to the Board of County Commissioners and the potentially exposed individuals. Ayuda was also given several contracts to mitigate and remediate all of the findings of the IAQ including mold, asbestos spills and elevated levels of dander and to completely renovate the interior of the building. During the renovation it was discovered that there were multiple structural concerns associated with the original construction of the building that was causing visible damage to the building. Working with local contractors and architects, Ayuda was able to perform the contracts with BOCC under the original cost estimate and provide a clean and energy efficient building.

Building Envelope Consultation - Gold Star Sausage FactoryVista Ridge

Description of Work: Ayuda was contracted by the Client to provide Owners Representation and hazardous materials remediation/demolition management services during the interior demolition and renovation of the site. This project posed new challenges as the building was occupied and was producing product with the FDA present during the initial screening event. Ayuda performed the background and initial screening sampling in accordance with applicable standards set in the State of Colorado. Ayuda additionally provided on-call environmental consulting and engineering support during the abatement and demolition phases of the project, which included project management, air monitoring, structural reviews and compliance support with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE).

Construction Defect Repair - Vista RidgeVista Ridge

Description of Work: Ayuda was prime contractor for a $56M Construction Defect Repair project for 67 single-family homes in Erie, Colorado over the past 5 years. The construction defect repair was necessary due to swelling soils under the foundation of the homes causing significant structural distress. Repairs being completed in each of the homes included obtaining civil grade certification, backfill removal and replacement, complete underpinning and caisson replacement with micropile technology, re-void of the foundation walls, conversion of slab-on-grade and slab-on-void foundation systems to suspended concrete structural foundation systems, interior and exterior cosmetic repair, removal and replacement of air conditioning units, plumbing repair due to heaved and crushed utility lines, installation of structural patios and decks, excavation to establish clearance in the crawlspace under suspended concrete basement floors, installation of crawlspace ventilation systems for prevention of moisture collection and radon, installation of interior and exterior perimeter drains and sump evacuation system, flatwork replacement (driveway, garages, porches, walks), re-grading of the lots per the civil plan, and landscaping removal and replacement.
