Description of Work: Ayuda is the Prime contractor for this $400K project, the first awarded task order for the Albuquerque MEGA. Ayuda is performing a Remedial Investigation to determine the nature and extent of perfluorinated compound contamination (PFCs), including a risk assessment. Ayuda has collected surface water, sediment, soil, and groundwater samples, installing 21 temporary wells and sampling over 30 existing wells. Additionally, Ayuda has completed a survey of off-site residential wells to determine if they are contaminated.

Description of Work: Ayuda is inspecting and repairing sumps associated with landfill cells 1 and 3, and cleanout/collection of the pipe at sump 3 of the Area A Landfill. All repairs will meet TCEQ requirements with consideration that repairs can be integrated into the design and plan for closure and post closure. Ayuda is also performing landfill maintenance activities, including leachate drainage, leachate storage, minor waste handling, temporary soil cover maintenance, and disposal of leachate from the landfill in order to remain in compliance with the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Permit.

Description of Work: Ayuda provided pre-construction planning, design, and installation of a subsurface mulch biowall at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. The wall was installed using continuous trenching techniques. The biowall passively treats contaminated groundwater associated with two former surface impoundments that released Freon 113, trichloroethene, and other volatile organic compounds and metals. By constructing the walls of organic matter (mulch and manure), the biowall remediate groundwater contamination by breaking down the chemicals as they pass through the organic wall materials.

Description of Work: Ayuda is the Prime contractor for this project at the Hawthorne Army Depot at three inactive solid waste management units. Contamination includes explosives such as ship mines and bombs, RDX, VOCs, petrol, oil, and lubricants. Activities include performing a RCRA Facility Investigation (RFI), Corrective Measures Study (CMS), and preparing Decision Documents. Ayuda has installed four new groundwater monitoring wells and is performing groundwater monitoring and indoor air monitoring as part of data collection.

Description of Work: Ayuda is providing remediation services under two performance-based remediation contracts for USACE Omaha District at the former Lincoln AFB Atlas Missile Site 6 near Tecumseh, NE. This FUDS site is being remediated under DERP in accordance with CERCLA/SARA, the NCP, and state regulations. The first contract, which included field work and an RI Addendum, was completed in October 2015. Ayuda developed and implemented a field program to address RI data gaps and more accurately define the horizontal and vertical extent of trichloroethylene (TCE) contamination in the perched aquifer and the horizontal extent of TCE in groundwater in the primary aquifer. Ayuda was issued a second contract to implement a pilot study to evaluate the effectiveness of BOS 100® for remediation of the TCE. Ayuda has completed the BOS 100® injections and the 6 of the 7 performance monitoring events. All work will be summarized in a completion report.

Description of Work:Ayuda was the prime contractor on this project and self-performed 37% of the work including asbestos oversight, asbestos air monitoring, building inspection, project design, asbestos abatement project management. Ayuda’s own EPA AHERA and State of Colorado-approved Asbestos Remediation Specialist also drafted the project design, the Asbestos Abatement Plan, the Air Monitoring plan, the Demolition Plan, the Soils Abatement Plan, interim reports to CDPHE, and the final closure report.

Description of Work:Turtle BayouAyuda completed a large-scale CERCLA remedial design/remedial action (RD/RA) project at the Turtle Bayou Petro-Chemical Systems Superfund Site, located near Liberty, Texas. The project entailed three components: remediation of soil contamination, resurfacing a road that serves as a cap over impacted soils, and improvement of flow into Turtle Bayou by the removal of channel sediments. Ayuda also performed community relations activities throughout RD/RA activities. Ayuda performed initial remediation of soils impacted by benzene and naphthalene using in-situ chemical oxidation. Ayuda utilized a geoprobe drilling rig to drill holes into the soil every 4 feet, throughout the entire remediation area footprint to a depth of about 14 feet. Liquid reagents were injected into soils in the remediation area. Due to high-plasticity clays present at the site, Ayuda selected ex-situ biotreatment as a secondary remediation technology. Once contaminant levels were below goals set by EPA, the remediation area was restored with seed and landscaping. Ayuda installed monitoring wells for continued groundwater monitoring activities. Ayuda also completed the third CERCLA Five-Year review for the site.
